About

GoingtoSeminary.com was started in 2007 by Ryan Burns.  After being a campus minister for 8 years Ryan felt the call to attend seminary in order to better prepare for the next 60 years of life and ministry.  As a husband and father he was concerned that there was no way he could quit his job, move his family, and become a full time student.   He initially launched the website to chronicle his journey and it quickly grew as a resource and encouragement for those who are in seminary and for those who might be considering seminary.

When Ryan approached Rockbridge Seminary to purchase GTS in 2009, our first question was how to keep this helpful resource going.  We love seminarians and we have given our lives to helping them accomplish their ministry objectives.

Our desire is to continue what Ryan started and to help students get the most out of their seminary experience regardless of the institution they attend.  The purpose of the site is not to promote one seminary or to tear down any seminary.  The focus of the site is about seminarians, not professors, or institutions.  The majority of our writers are  are currently in seminary.  Our goal is to cover the richness of the seminary experience, including the challenges and joys of seminary life.

Regardless if you study online while you are working at a church or attend a residential campus, seminary is hard and it calls for remarkable sacrifice.  We pray GtS will encourage seminarians to stay at this noble calling, and their journey will inspire others to the call.   We invite you to join in the conversation by commenting with your thoughts and opinions on all our posts.
